Who is Yulia Lipnitskaya?
Yulia Vyacheslavovna Lipnitskaya is a Russian figure skater. She is an 2014 Olympic champion in the team event, the 2014 European champion, the 2014 World silver medalist, the 2013 Grand Prix Final silver medalist, and a two-time Russian national silver medalist. Competing as a junior, she won the 2012 World Junior Championships, 2011 JGP Final, and 2012 Russian Junior Championships.
Within the ladies' singles category, Lipnitskaya is the youngest gold medalist at the European Championships. She is also among the youngest figure skaters to win gold at the Olympics — 15 years, 249 days old when Russia won the team event, six days younger than American Tara Lipinski, who won gold in the individual event at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Aged four months younger than both, Maxi Herber won Olympic pair skating gold at the 1936 Winter Olympics.
