Who is Đặng Thu Thảo?

Đặng Thu Thảo is a beauty pageant contestant from Bạc Liêu, Vietnam. She was crowned Miss Vietnam 2012 in Da Nang on August 25. Previously she was bestowed the title of Miss Mekong Delta 2012. She is currently enrolled at the Tây Đô University, Cần Thơ.

Born in a family of modest means, she left her native Bạc Liêu to work in Cần Thơ to help pay for her tuition. Her parents were not able to attend the coronation ceremony since her mother had to take care of her ailing father. Thảo plans to donate 40% of her prize money to charities. On August 26 she along with 10 other top contestants visited the Hospital of Da Nang to comfort cancer patients. She will represent Vietnam to attend Miss World 2013 to be held in Bali, Indonesia.
