Who is Abbas Abu Amin?

Abbas Abu Amin was a Singaporean Member of Parliament from 1980 to 1991.

He studied at Kota Raja Malay School and Victoria School. He was an active student, having represented combined schools in hockey, rugby and football. He went on to the Teachers' Training College and joined the Singapore Armed Forces in 1966. He rose to the rank of Major in the Singapore Army.

In 1980, he became a MP for Pasir Panjang, until 1991.

Abbas was also the Chairman of the Football Association of Singapore from 1989 to 1991, and an active trade unionist in National Trade Union Congress.
