Who is Alexander Shlepyanov?
Alexander Shlepyanov (b. 1933 Moscow) is by profession a journalist and script writer, who wrote more than forty films in Russia, the most famous being Dead Season made in 1969, the story of a Russian spy attempting to trap a German war criminal in the West. 200 million tickets were reported sold in Russia making it firmly the best seller of the early 70s. The film is still shown on television every year, thirty years later.Son of Ilya Shlepyanov, who was the principal artist at the Meyerhold Theatre of Moscow, the most Revolutionary avant-garde Russian theatre, in the 1920s and later director of Kirov Theatre in Leningrad.
