Who is Charles, Prince of La Roche-sur-Yon?

Charles de Bourbon, Prince de la Roche-sur-Yon, born 1515, died in 1565 in Beaupre, is a prince of the blood of the House of Bourbon.

He is the son of Louis de Bourbon, Prince of la Roche-sur-Yon, and Louise de Bourbon, Duchess of Montpensier.

He served with his brother in the wars against Charles V, in Provence, Artois, in Roussillon and Champagne. He was captured near Chalons-sur-Marne. Released, he is part of the expedition charged with defending Metz besieged by Charles V in 1552, then joined Henry II besieging Renti in Artois.

During the wars of religion, he served in the Royal Army and took part in the sieges of Bourges and Rouen. Familiar of Queen Catherine de' Medici, he, unlike his brother, a moderate Catholic, opposed the party of Guise.

He married in 1544 Philippe de Montespedon, lady Beaupreau, and had children:
