Who was Christopher Lipscomb?
The Rt Rev Christopher Lipscomb, DD was the inaugural Anglican Bishop of Jamaica.
Lipscomb was baptized on 20 November 1781 at Staindrop, County Durham.Durham. He was educated at New College, Oxford, and ordained in 1816. He was vicar of Sutton Benger, Wiltshire from 1818 until his elevation to the Episcopate. He resigned his See in 1842 and died on 4 April 1843.
