Who was Conrad Langaard?
Conrad Christian Parnemann Langaard was a Norwegian businessperson.
He was born in Lillesand as a son of sea captain Mads Christian Langaard and Ellevine Ellefsen. He was a brother of Mads Langaard, and through him an uncle of Christian Langaard and a granduncle of Johan Henrik Langaard.
From March 1857 he was married to Henriette Bull, and from February 1869 he was married to Andrea Serene Jensen, a sister of Peter Andreas Jensen. Through his son, factory owner Rasmus Agerup Langaard, he was a grandfather of tennis player Conrad Langaard.
He entered the tobacco industry in 1849, and founded the eponymous company Conrad Langaard in 1854. He was also a ship-owner, and was one of the wealthiest persons in Norway. His company still exists.
