Who is Daniel Bass?
Daniel Bass is an Australian sportsman who has played both high level Australian rules football and basketball.
Melbourne-born and raised Bass is 200 cm and 102 kg and initially played basketball, spending four years with the Metropolitan State College of Denver in NCAA basketball. Bass then returned to Australia, taking up Australian rules football with the intention of playing professionally in the Australian Football League.
The fact Bass had not been registered with any football league for more than three years meant that under the AFLs rookie rules he qualified to be listed by a club without having to go through the AFL Draft system. AFL club Port Adelaide recruited Bass as a rookie in 2010 and Bass spent several seasons playing for South Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League while developing his footballing skills.
On 29 September 2011, Port Adelaide announced that Bass would be delisted.
