Edith Allard

Who is Edith Allard?

Edith Allard was born March 16, 1927 to Russian immigrants living in Chicago, Illinois. She studied ballet throughout her childhood and at age 18 moved to New York to study on scholarship at the School of American Ballet. After one year in New York, Allard began dancing professionally with the Chicago Opera Ballet, the Radio City Music Hall corps de ballet, as well as several touring companies. She then pursued a career as a soloist throughout Europe, spending much of her time on contract in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she retired in 1944. After retirement, she became a dance teacher and exercise therapist for heart and lung patients. Allard married Ingemar Larsson in 1974 and currently resides in Stockholm, Sweden.
