Who is George D. Wise?
George Douglas Wise was an American Union brevet brigadier general during the period of the American Civil War. He was also a U.S. Coast Survey employee. He received his appointment as brevet brigadier general dated to March 13, 1865.
He was the second cousin of politician and Confederate general Henry Alexander Wise.
He should not be confused with George Douglas Wise, a U.S. Representative from Virginia who was the nephew of the aforementioned Henry Alexander Wise.
