Who was George Sanford?
George Foster "Sandy" Sanford was an American football player and coach. He served as the head coach at Columbia University, the University of Virginia, and Rutgers University, compiling a career college football record of 84–46–6. Sanford was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as a coach in 1971.
