Who was Gustav Heistermann von Ziehlberg?
Gustav Dietrich Adolf Heisterman von Ziehlberg was a highly decorated Generalleutnant in the German Wehrmacht armed forces during World War II. He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. Convicted as a member of the German Resistance to Nazism, he was sentenced to death and executed by firing squad.
