Who is Jerome Kiely?
Jerome Kiely, Irish poet, born 1925.
Born in Kinsale, County Cork, Kiely was educated at the county's diocesean college and at St. Patrick's, Maynooth. He was ordained a priest in 1950 and as of 1990 was still working in this capacity in Cork. He was removed from his job as Parish Priest of Aughadown after allegations of sexual abuse of altar boys came to light. [2] In 1956 he won the Adam Prize for poetry.
