Who is Joe Roman?

Joe Roman is a conservation biologist and author of the books Whale and Listed: Dispatches from America’s Endangered Species Act. His conservation research includes studies of the historical population size of whales, the role of cetaceans in the nitrogen cycle, the relationship between biodiversity and disease, and the genetics of invasions. He received his PhD in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology at Harvard University in 2003. Born in Queens, New York, Roman lives in Vermont.
