S. John "Joby" Shaw was an English professional Rugby League World Cup winning footballer of the 1950s and '60s, playing at representative level for Great Britain, and Yorkshire, and at club level for Wakefield Trinity, and Halifax, as a Hooker, i.e. number 9, during the era of contested scrums.
