Who is Joy Swift?
Joy Angela Swift is the inventor of the Interactive Murder Mystery concept. The first of which was performed to worldwide interest on 30 October 1981.
Born in Blundellsands, Liverpool, Swift was educated at Merchant Taylors’ School. She then went on to college to study Graphic Design but left to take up full-time employment at the Liverpool Echo. Swift left 3 years later to join the Sales & Marketing team of a small chain of hotels, and it was there that she came up with her revolutionary idea.
From a comfortable middle-class family, Joy is the youngest of three children. Her father Norman was the fourth generation to run the family owned timber merchants. All the Swift family were very sporty and both parents and siblings played tennis for Lancashire. Her brother Tony went on to become a champion squash player and National Coach. Swift plays squash and tennis and enjoys walking, the cinema and theatre particularly musical theatre.
