Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati is an Italian politician. She graduated from university with a degree in jurisprudence.
Once a member of the Italian Liberal Party, she joined Forza Italia in 1994 and was elected to the Italian Senate in general election of that year. Not re-elected in 1996, she was returned again as senator in 2001, 2006 and 2008. Between 2004 and 2006 she was Under-Secretary of Health and since 2008 she has been Under-Secretary of Justice.
