Who is Max de Esteban?
Max de Esteban is a fine-art photographer. Max was born in Barcelona, Spain. Holds a Graduate degree from UPC, a Master from Stanford University and a PhD from URL. He is a Fulbright Alumni.
His work is organized in two distinct bodies: Elegies of Manumission and Propositions. The four elegies produced between 2010 and 2011 raise social and political questions through symbolic portraiture. Propositions, initiated in 2011, deal with contemporary political and art issues through photography and video. Proposition One reflects upon art and technology by presenting obsolete objects used to create or communicate recent art and has been extensively exhibited around the world.
In 2010, Max exhibited his installation "Don't Listen to Me" in Barcelona. His work "Vertige" received the Fotofestiwal Jury's Special Prize and was exhibited in Lodz in May 2010. "Private Utopias" was selected and exhibited at the FotoTageTrier 2010 Triennial.
In 2011 he exhibited Proposition One at Klompching Gallery in New York, was selected and exhibited at Photographers Network 2011 in Siegen and his work Elegies of Manumission was the cover of Profifoto Magazine.
In 2012 Max had solo exhibitions in Festival de la Luz, Proposition One, Buenos Aires,; in Central European House of Photography, Elegies of Manumission, Bratislava, and was selected to participate in Rencontres Internationales, Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
