Who is Peter Armitage?

Peter Armitage, is an English television actor who trained at the East 15 Acting School. He has been a regular on British screens since the 1970s. He has enjoyed three spells as the character Bill Webster on long-running soap opera Coronation Street, appearing in the role in 1984, then from 1995 to 1997 and more recently from 2006 to 2011. He had previously appeared as a different character playing a painter and decorator in two episodes in 1977.

He is also fondly remembered for appearing in a Yellow Pages advert in the 1980s as a dad trying to convince his son not to have a racing bike as a birthday present. The advert ends with Armitage saying the line "I was right about that saddle though!". Peter currently lives in Cononley, North Yorkshire and is a keen motorcyclist and is often seen riding his motorbike through the Lake District.

Armitage was diagnosed with bowel cancer and left Coronation Street as a result. On 26 February 2014, it was announced that Armitage had beaten the cancer and was keen to return to the show.
