Who was Samuel Bostock?
Owner of Lainston House between 1897 and 1921. Before the war he was already interesting himself in the many problems of agriculture and rural life generally, and during the war he was chairman of the Agricultural Organization Society in London, and was also a member of the Old Army and Navy Canteen Board. He was also one of the first promoters of the Women's Institute movement, and a founder of the Guild of Hampshire Craftsmen.
