Who was Thomas Steele?
Thomas Steele was a British politician at the turn of the nineteenth century.
After Westminster School and Cambridge, he was elected as MP for Chichester in 1780, holding the seat until 1807.
He held the post of Secretary to the Treasury from 1783 to 1791, Paymaster of the Forces from 1791 to 1804, and King's Remembrancer from 1797 to 1823.
He was a friend of William Pitt the Younger.
