Who is Vengal Chakkarai?
Vengal Chakkarai is a theologian from India. He was born in 1880 in Delhi from a Hindu family. He follows Christian education at a Christian school in Madras in the year 1897 and graduated in the year 1901 from majoring in philosophy. He was baptized in the year 1903. He tried to explain the Christian faith through the Hinduism point of view. This can be seen when he tried to find the meaning of cross for the followers of Christianity with how to get moksha.
Some of the Chakkarai's point of view about Christianity:
Jesus is truly human.
Holy Spirit is Christ himself who continues to exist and work until now.
God can not be seen as the creator of sin.
Human themself are responsible for the sins that they do.
Knowledge of God is not something that is intellectually, but a personal experience with God.
Sin is seen as a handcuffs, which prevents the human soul to reach God.
The essence of sin is the desire to find "the mystery of the forbidden".
