Who was Valtazar Bogišić?
Valtazar Bogišić was a Serbian jurist and a pioneer in sociology.
In the domain of private law his most notable works are researches on family structure and the unique Montenegrin civil code from 1888. He is considered to be a pioneer in the area of sociology of law and sociological jurisprudence. He was also a follower of the German Historical School of law, and maybe consider as a transfer-figure between Historical School and sociological approaches in law. In 1902 Bogisic was elected president of the International Institute of Sociology in Paris.
