Who is Bashir Zaidi Aseer?

Bashir Zaidi takhallus Aseer (alias Bashir Imam Zaidi), Pakistan poet and civil servant till his retirement in 1994. Born in Delhi, British India (now India), he was associated with the struggle for independence from British rule in his early teens. On achieving independence, he migrated to Lahore where he completed his studies and took a career in broadcasting by joining Radio Pakistan (later Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation - PBC). During his 37 years with PBC he played an important role in evolution of this industry in Pakistan while maintaining the quality of content being broadcasted from different stations across Pakistan. He has been a source of inspiration & guidance for his subordinates & peers inside PBC and also for singers, poets, drama artists, speakers, anchors etc. who have acknowledged this at different forums across the globe. Bashir Zaidi is an Urdu poet renowned for classical and progressive ghazals. His book Zanjeer-e-Khwaab was first published in 2007 and has touched the hearts of many who had waited for it since long.
