Bob Scurfield

Who is Bob Scurfield?

Robert Jay Scurfield is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey centreman. Scurfield was a member of the Tulsa Oilers team that suspended operations on February 16, 1984, playing only road games for final six weeks of 1983-84 season. Despite this adversity, the team went on to win the league's championship.

Suiting up for the Calgary Flames, Scurfield played in several NHL exhibition games prior to the start of the 1984–85 NHL season. In February 1985 Scurfield signed with the Spokane Chiefs for the remainder of the 1984-85 WIHL season. On March 31, 1985, in the fifth game of the best-of-seven championship series, Scurfield scored the game-winning unassisted goal at 4:46 of the third period to clinch the WIHL championship and the Savage Cup for the Spokane Chiefs.

After retiring from professional hockey, he moved to Midland, Michigan and became athletic director of Midland High School as well as manager of the Midland Civic Arena.

He is currently an assistant principal at Midland High School.
