Who was Carlos Torre?
Carlos Jesús Torre Repetto was a chess grandmaster from Mexico. He won a number of chess tournaments in the 1920s and placed =5th at the very strong Moscow 1925 International Tournament, tieing with Tartakover, below Bogolyubov, Lasker, Capablanca and Marshall, but ahead of Réti, Rubinstein, Spielmann and other great players. He beat former World Champion, Lasker, in a wonderful game.
