Who is Charlie Cole?
Charlie Cole born John Charles Cole was a racing cyclist from Bedfordshire. Cole raced for the Luton Wheelers Cycling club throughout the thirties and forties. It has been reported that in the 1930s a thousand additional spectators would turn out to watch a race when Cole was racing. The Charlie Cole cup is awarded today for the best 25 mile ‘all rounder’ by some cycling clubs in England.
