Who is Clarence Cooper?

Clarence Cooper' is a U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of Georgia of the Federal Judiciary of the United States. Cooper was born in Decatur, Georgia. He received a B.A. from Clark College, Atlanta, Georgia in 1964. He received a J.D. from Emory University School of Law in 1967.

Cooper received an M.P.A. from Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government in 1978. He was an Attorney, Atlanta Legal Aid Society, Georgia in 1967. He was in the United States Army from 1968 to 1970. He was an Assistant district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia in 1968 and from 1970 to 1975. He was a judge on the City of Atlanta Municipal Court, Georgia from 1975 to 1980. He was a judge on the Fulton Superior Court, Georgia from 1980 to 1990. He was a judge on the Georgia Court of Appeals from 1990 to 1994 Cooper was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Cooper was nominated by President Bill Clinton on March 9, 1994, to a seat vacated by Richard C. Freeman. Judge Cooper was confirmed by the United States Senate on May 6, 1994, and received commission on May 9, 1994 and he assumed senior status on February 9, 2009.
