Who was David T. Disney?

David Tiernan Disney was a U.S. Representative from Ohio.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Disney moved with his parents to Ohio in 1807. He attended the common schools. He studied law. He was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Cincinnati. He became a writer for a newspaper in 1825. He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1829, 1831, and 1832, and served as speaker in the last-named year. He served in the State senate in 1833, 1834, 1843, and 1844, and was president of the senate in 1833. He was one of the commissioners to adjust the boundary line between the States of Ohio and Michigan in 1834. He served as chairman of the commission to adjust taxes of the counties of Ohio in 1840. He served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1848.

Disney was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-first, Thirty-second, and Thirty-third Congresses. He served as chairman of the Committee on Elections, Committee on Public Lands. He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1854. He died in Washington, D.C., March 14, 1857. He was interred in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, Ohio.
