Who is Donnacha Cody?
Donnacha Cody is an Irish sportsperson. He plays hurling with his local club James Stephens and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 2006 until 2008.
Donnacha Cody was born in Kilkenny in 1985. He was born into a family that had a strong association with hurling. His father, Brian Cody, played senior hurling with Kilkenny in the 1970s and 1980s, winning four All-Ireland medals during his career. Cody's mother, Elsie, was a native of County Wexford and played senior camogie with Wexford. Cody was educated locally and later attended St. Kieran's College, a local secondary school and well-known hurling nursery. During his tenure there he was part of the team that won two All-Ireland Colleges medals. He first came to prominence in 2003 when he won an All-Ireland Minor medal with Kilkenny. Cody joined the senior hurling panel in 2006, under the management of his father. He won a National Hurling League medal early in the year and made his championship debut against Westmeath An injury caused him to miss the All-Ireland Hurling Final, which Kilkenny also won.
