Who was George A. Cincotta?
George A. Cincotta was an American politician from the state of New York.
Cincotta, an Italian American Democrat, was elected to the New York City Council from Central Brooklyn in 1958.
He was elected to the New York State Assembly in 1958 where he remained until 1978 representing Central Brooklyn including portions of Crown Heights, Flatbush and Prospect Heights. While Cincotta was serving Kings County went thru several redistrictings, so he represented:
Kings County 11th District 1959 - 1965
52nd District 1966
43rd District 1967 - 1978
While in the Assembly he became chairman of the Banking Committee. Free Checking in New York State came through a bill which he coauthored with Senator William Conklin. Cincotta left the Assembly in 1978 to become chairman of the New York State Commission on Cable Television and he retired from that post in 1981.
