Who was George Frodsham?
George Horsfall Frodsham was an Anglican bishop in the early 20th century.
Frodsham was born in Cheshire on 14 September 1863. He was educated at Birkenhead School and University College, Durham and ordained in 1888. His first positions were curacies at St Thomas’ Leeds and St Margaret’s Ilkley. From 1896 he was Rector of St Thomas’ Toowong, Queensland and then chaplain to the Bishop of Brisbane. From 1902 to 1913 he was the Bishop of North Queensland. On his return to England he was a canon residentiary at Gloucester Cathedral. In 1920 he became Vicar of Halifax, a position he held until his death on 6 March 1937.
