Who was George Robson?
George Robson was a Canadian racing driver active in the 1940s. Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Robson later moved to Ontario and finally to the U.S. in 1924.
Robson was the winner of the first Indianapolis 500 following World War II but would die later that year with George Barringer in an accident at Lakewood Speedway in Atlanta, Georgia. Robson's brother Hal also competed in the Indy 500.
