Who was George Webb?
George Augustus Webb was an English actor, best known for his role as "Daddy" in the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.
The son of Henry Augustus Webb and Gertrude 'Billy', he had two younger siblings, Denis Alfred Webb, who was killed by a military vehicle aged 5 while picking flowers for his mother; and Joan Webb who committed suicide after years of ill health. From his father's earlier marriage George Webb was the half-brother of the actors Rita Webb and Harry Webb.
George Webb died of natural causes on 30 December 1998 aged 86. He left a son, Michael Webb.
