Who is Georges Malfait?
Georges W. Malfait was a French athlete who competed at the 1906 Summer Olympics in Athens, at the 1908 Summer Olympics in London, and the 1912 Summer Olympics in Stockholm.
In 1906 he was eliminated in the first round of the 100 metres event as well as of the 400 metres competition.
Two years later in the 100 metres event, Malfait lost his first round heat to Nathaniel Cartmell, finishing in 11.2 seconds to Cartmell's 11.0 to be eliminated from competition.
The next day, Malfait won his preliminary heat of the 200 metres competition with a time of 22.6 seconds. His semifinal race resulted in a close finish, with George Hawkins and Patrick Roche edging Malfait into third place in the heat.
Malfait's performance in the 400 metres event was quite similar to that in the 200; he won his preliminary heat with a time of 50.0 seconds before placing last in his semifinal.
At the 1912 Olympics he was eliminated in the first round of the 200 metres event as well as of the 400 metres competition.
