Who was Giuliano Gozi?
Giuliano Gozi was Captain-Regent of San Marino 5 times between April 1923 and April 1942. He also served as foreign minister from 1917 until 1943.
When Italy entered World War I in 1915, he joined the Royal Italian Army, and rose to the rank of lieutenant. He was a recipient of the Gold Medal of Military Valor.
As founder and leader of the Sammarinese Fascist Party, he was the de facto leader of the country from the early 1920s until the end of World War II, when he retired from politics.
