Who is Glen Querl?

Reginald Glenn Querl is a Zimbabwean cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast bowler, Querl represented Zimbabwe at Under-19 level in the Afro-Asia Under-19 Cup in November 2005, and during the 2006 Under-19 World Cup. In 2010, Querl was selected as one of 21 players to form the first Unicorns squad to take part in the Clydesdale Bank 40 domestic limited overs competition against the regular first-class counties. The Unicorns were made up of 15 former county cricket professionals and 6 young cricketers looking to make it in the professional game. Querl played for the Unicorns in the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40.

Querl made his first-class cricket debut against the Southern Rocks for Matabeleland Tuskers and took an astonishing 9 wickets on debut. In the second first-class match, Querl took an unbelievable 9 wickets for 39 runs. Though the record number of wickets from a player's debut two first-class matches are held by Frank Fee of Ireland, there are a few more who have done much more better than Glen. He had taken those 18 wickets for just 140 runs. Admittedly Glenn's feat was achieved against teams weakened by the loss of their international players, but the amazingly small cost of these wickets makes it still a very special feat. The Mashonaland batsmen in particular were quite unable to handle him effectively when his swing was combined with immaculate line and length.
