Who was Günther Scheel?

Günther Scheel was a German Luftwaffe fighter ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. Günther Scheel holds the unique record in World War II of shooting down more aircraft than he flew missions. He was credited with 71 aerial victories—that is, 71 aerial combat encounters resulting in the destruction of the enemy aircraft—in just 70 missions. All his victories were recorded over the Eastern Front.
