Who was J. C. Stobart?
John Clarke Stobart, commonly known as J.C. Stobart, wrote two famous and influential books, The Glory that was Greece and The Grandeur that was Rome. He was also a classical scholar, a University of Cambridge lecturer, an HM Inspector of Schools and the BBC's first Director of Education.
