Who was Jelena Dorotka?
Jelena Hoffmann Dorotka, was a cubist painter. She was the daughter of the countess Maria Malvina de Bonda and Joseph Dorotka von sharma.
Dorotka lived in Paris from 1907 to 1914 and had an atelier at the Montparnasse. She was friends with Marie Vassilieffnd founder of the famous Paris Academie Russe. She met many leading figures of in the world of painting, and also worked for a time in the Matisse Painting School. She also met the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrović. Upon the outbreak of World War I, Dorotka left France, and returned to Dubrovnik in 1922 after several years of wandering Europe.
