Who is Jess Green?
Jess Green was mayor of American Fork, Utah between 1994 to 1998. Green was born in American Fork, Utah and attended American Fork High School, Brigham Young University, and attended the University of Utah School of Law for two years. He served a church mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the North Central States and Canada. Green also served in the Airborne 19th Special Forces Group. He graduated from Artillery Officers’ School in Oklahoma, Parachute School in Georgia, Helicopter Maintenance School in Alabama, and Mountaineering School in Alaska.
Prior to his service as mayor, Green spent 16 years on the American Fork Planning Commission, was a City Councilman, and spent significant time helping to develop the Central Utah Project for northern Utah County. Green was elected mayor in 1993 under the platform of managed growth. During his tenure as mayor, he was successful in getting the city a new library. He was instrumental in work with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the construction of the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.
