Who is Johanan ben Baroka?
Johanan ben Baroka was a second and third generation Jewish Tanna sage. The Mishnah handed down, in his name, many of his Halakhic rulings, and additional halakhot rulings of Baroka are cited in the Baraitas.
His article in Pirkei Avot dealt with the issue of Chillul Hashem:
He had a son, R. Ishmael ben Johanan ben Baroka, who was accounted in the fourth generation of the Jewish Tanna sages.
