Who is John Bowler?

John James Mansell Bowler is a Western Australian politician who has been a member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly since 2001. His father James Bowler was born in Boulder and raised on the Lakewood woodline while his mother also had a gold mining background being raised in the Victorian town of Maldon. The day after his 21st birthday he started a journalism cadetship at the Kalgoorlie Miner where he worked for nine years before moving to the ABC newsroom where he stayed for 17 years. Mr Bowler then helped establish the Golden Mail newspaper where he was the founding editor. During this period, along with his wife Mary Anne he successfully operated two businesses in Kalgoorlie. In 2000 Mr Bowler obtained Labor Party endorsement, for the seat of Eyre and he was elected to State Parliament at the February 2001 election.

Bowler, then a member of the Australian Labor Party, was elected to the legislature from the former seat of Eyre in 2001.
