Who was Joseph G. Pinten?
Joseph Gabriel Pinten was the third Roman Catholic bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Superior in Superior, Wisconsin, and the fourth bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Grand Rapids in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Joseph Pinten was born in Rockland, Michigan and was ordained to the Roman Catholic priesthood on, November 1, 1890 for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan, now the Roman Catholic Diocese of Marquette in Rome, Italy.
On November 30, 1921, Pope Benedict XV appointed Pinten bishop of the Superior Diocese, and he was ordained bishop on May 3, 1922. On June 25, 1926, Pope Pius XI appointed him bishop of the Grand Rapids Diocese. On November 1, 1940, Bishop Pinten retired, and later died in Marquette, Michigan.
