Who was Juan Pedro Fontanella?
Juan Pedro Fontanella was a Catalan judge and advocate.
As a co-instigator of the Catalan Revolt of 1640 he had to flee to France, settling in Perpignan in 1651, where he was elected to the city government.
He gained his scholarly reputation by publishing a report of decisions of the Catalan supreme court and a two-volume manual on prenuptial agreements. Both are still cited today by courts in Catalonia.
