Who was Julius H. Comroe, Jr.?
Julius H. Comroe, Jr. was a medical researcher specializing in the functions and physiology of the human heart and lungs, a surgeon, director of the Cardiovascular Research Institute for the University of California at San Francisco. Comroe was a member of the National Academy of Sciences. He was also president of the American Physiological Society. Comroe served on the scientific advisory board of the Tobacco Industry Research Committee. He also served on the Medical Board of the National Academy of Sciences. The New York Times called him "award-winning expert on the functions and physiology of the human heart and lungs".
