Who is Kevin McCarty?
Kevin McCarty is an American politician currently serving in the California State Assembly. He is a Democrat representing the 7th district, encompassing parts of the Sacramento metropolitan area. Prior to being elected to the state assembly, he was an Sacramento city councilmember representing the 6th district which includes part of the eastern and southeastern parts of the city.
Prior to being elected to the Sacramento City Council, McCarty served as policy director to former California Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, and as an assembly budget committee consultant to former California State Assembly member Denise Moreno Ducheny. McCarty was first elected to the city council in 2004 after Dave Jones stepped down in order to run for the state assembly. He is a resident of the Elmhurst neighborhood.
