Who is Kumar Muthalagappan?

Kumar Muthalagappan OBE was appointed to the Olympic Delivery Authority at its creation by Parliament in February 2006 and holds responsibility within the Audit, Finance, and Remuneration Committees. He was a board member of VisitBritain from March 2002 to 2010 and chaired their Audit Committee. He was awarded an OBE in the 2009 New Year's honours list for services to tourism and hospitality.

Kumar is Chief Executive of Medinova Research, a company specialising in Clinical Research and Medical Services, based in London.

Kumar became a non executive director of Alexandra Palace and is working to develop this historic asset of our country to become sustainable for future generations to enjoy. Kumar is a Chartered Accountant and practised in the areas of audit, tax and corporate finance with KPMG from 1983 to 1997.

He is Chairman of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the "CBSO", which is enjoying great acclaim and success under the direction Andris Nelsons. The CBSO is fast becoming recognised as one of the leading orchestras in the world.

Kumar graduated from the University of Warwick in 1983 and served as a lay member of the University Council from 2007 to 2010. He was involved in Committees dealing with Nominations, Honorary Graduates, and the appointment of the University Chancellor. Kumar was appointed to the Board of Advantage West Midlands to serve a three year term from December 2009.
