Who is Mahesh Kothare?

Mahesh Kothare is an actor, film director and producer of Marathi and Hindi films. He has worked in Indian cinema from a very young age, acting in well-known movies such as Raja Aur Rank, Chhota Bhai, Mere Laal, and Ghar Ghar ki Kahani. The very popular song "Tu kitani aachhi hai tu kitani bholi hai o maa" was also pictured on Kothare.

Mahesh Kothare is also known as a revolutionary Film maker in the Marathi Film Industry. After the onset of his directorial career with Dhumdhadaka which was a path breaking film he never looked back and has delivered many box office hits over the period of 20 years. Mahesh Kothare films are known for their technical nuances and fantasy concepts. Mahesh Kothare is one of the few Indian Film Makers who have been able to woo the audiences with the fantasy genre.

Mahesh Kothare made the first Marathi Film in true 3D which released on 7 June 2013. The film is Zapatlela 2 which is a sequel to his 1993 box office block buster 'Zapatlela'. In this film the character of a doll named, 'Tatya Vinchu', that comes to life, had become a hit and still sends a chill down the spine of the audiences. Mahesh Kothare revived Tatya Vinchu and this time in 3D.
