Manuel Márquez Sterling was a Cuban diplomat and President of Cuba for a few hours on January 18, 1934.
He was an attorney, was Ambassador of Cuba to Mexico and later to the United States. He was married to his cousin, Mercedes Márquez Sterling y Ziburo. His nephew was Carlos Márquez Sterling.
He tied for 16-17th in the Paris 1900 chess tournament played during the world exhibition.
